Ice Power is introducing some new amplifier modules and the 1400 watt RMS (dual Ice Power 700ASC) would work really well in a Captivator (vented version). Anyone intested in a Captivator 1400 with a price tag under $2k?

I posted this on the AVS "JTR Captivator" thread, but figured I would post here too (not sure which forum you frequent more often).

Could this new amp be used in a Cap S1 as well? I may be interested in a pair of Cap S1's to go along with my Cap S2 to smooth out the nulls and provide some extra headroom.

If the Captivator 2400 is currently at $2,599 and you are talking under $2,000, I assume that means $600+ cheaper for the amp module. Applying that logic to the Cap S1, price would be $1,800 or less each?

The impedance won't work however this is something that is possible (new driver). Send me an email.

From AVS and Facebook, there seems like there is a lot of interest. We're going forward with this project, start shipping by the end of May and have a preorder sale start May 1st.

The 1400 will be 30" tall, 20" wide and 22.5" deep.

Very nice offering!

So is the Captivator 1400 replacing the 2400?  Was there much of a difference in output?

Any similar plans for the S1 or S2?

There is less than a 2db difference.

No plans for using this amplifier in anything else yet.

So is the Cap2400 going to be replaced with the 1400?

Yes, we had to change the drivers impedance and switch to a dual voice coil to optimize for this new amplifier.

Jeff you said that the output for this 1400 is 2 db less. Im curious what is the max db and at what hz of this 1400, 2400 and the s2 if you don't mind me asking

Max output numbers are dependent upon the method of testing. We plan on sending all of our subwoofers to Data Bass this summer so that they're are comparable measurements. Keep in mind that these numbers don't tell you how a subwoofers sounds. There is no part of a frequency response that tells you if the subwoofer sound tight or muddy or.......

Not responding for Jeff but my guess would be due to reduction in amp from 2400 rms to 1400 rms which is just over half the power so since you have to double the power to get a 3 db increase then I would guess a 2 db reduction would be about right.  Also he appear to be using the same sub box so that part is consistent.
